SCENEHOUSE DESIGN 2
August 19th – August 30th (day off 25th)
Fee information
Design 2 focusses on extending the skills gained in Design 1.
Each student undertakes a personal design project. This will comprise a 1:25 scale model box, and ground-plan . Those with an interest in costume may also produce costume plates. The process will culminate in a group exhibition and tutorial
The project will focus on the intercommunication between design roles in meeting a brief. Students will recieve input from a professional director, plus tutorials from visiting professionals and tuition in model making skills.
Previous directors for our Design 2 shadowing project have included Vicki Featherstone, Cora Bisset, Orla Mclaughlin, and Gareth Nicholls.
The project may culminate with a public showing of the work to an invited audience.
We would normally expect students to have completed Design 1 before commencing Design 2, although applicants who can demonstrate they posses the skills covered in Part 1 may be admitted directly.
Design 2 can also be taken with Design 1 in a single 4 week block, or as part of the full Scenehouse Programme.
During the fortnight there will be the opportunity for visits to world class theatre at the Edinburgh Festival followed by group discussion.
