COURSES - AN OVERVIEW
UPDATE ON SCENEHOUSE SUMMER PROGRAMME:
Following on from the cancellation of the Edinburgh Festivals this year, we have taken the decision to cancel the Scenehouse Summer Programme 2020.
We are working away behind the scenes to try to create some sort of alternative teaching for those of you who might find this useful for the interim, and will be sharing details soon.
We will also be back , when it is safe to do so, with on - site courses and are very much looking forward to that!
In the meantime please all stay safe, and creative!
The Scenehouse Programme offers 4 individual courses which can be studied as stand alone components or in combination within the Scenehouse programme. Our aim is to make our teaching as accessible and affordable to students as possible.

Evaluation
As Scenehouse courses are vocational we do not award qualifications and don’t assess work by grading. However students will receive constant formative feedback on their progress from staff as part of their personal tuition and also from peers through group tutorials. The Design courses will be based on a model box project, and will culminate in a presentation to staff, students, guest lecturers and project director.
Outcomes
At the end of a Scenehouse course students will have created tangible products. They will have compiled, from their own notes and from materials given to them, a technical and theoretical handbook. They will also have pictures and resources to create or expand their portfolios.
In addition they should have gained a thorough knowledge in the following areas:

-The role of the designer both as individual practitioner, and as a creative collaborator
-The purposes and techniques of working at scale and creating high quality reference materials
-Creative analysis of primary sources and texts
-Appropriate research techniques
From the Make course:

-The ability to match the appropriate technique with the available resources
Students will also have developed their skills in the following areas:
-Creative synthesis of conceptual responses and production techniques
-interpersonal collaborative techniques
