WHO RUNS THE SCENEHOUSE PROGRAMME?
The Scenehouse’s lead tutors have long track records in teaching within higher education, as well as busy freelance careers. Francis Gallop and Sarah Paulley have both taught design at Queen Margaret University (QMU) in Edinburgh as part of the BA Honours, Theatre Production programme. The course was one of the most highly regarded of its kind in the UK, with a graduate employment rate of over 95%. Former students are now active in design and production roles across the UK and further abroad. Francis was also programme leader of QMU’s MA / MFA in Advanced Stage and Screen Practice and MA / MFA Theatre Production. Sarah continues to work at QMU as a senior lecturer. Janis Hart's lecturing experience includes Rose Bruford's Theatre Design degree course, and Lewisham College's Btec theatre course.
In addition to these one to four year programmes they both have extensive experience of delivering short courses and summer-schools, in the UK and internationally.
At various points in the Programme Francis, Janis and Sarah will be joined by additional teaching staff bringing further expertise. These staff will also be experienced lecturers and practicing designers. This number of extra staff will depend on the size of the student group but there will be a ratio of no more than five students to one tutor.
What’s more, in the final week of the Design 2 course we’ll have further support from lighting and sound designers in the creation of the final group projects.
In addition guest speakers will also give lectures throughout the course. Keep an eye on our news section as we reveal our line up.
